Mechanical Engineer Amir Dirbaz has been designing Leimec's products since 2018. When the engineering office through which Dirbaz initially worked for Leimec closed its operations, Leimec was determined not to let go of someone with such valuable expertise in the company's products. Today, Dirbaz is a key figure in Leimec's product development, fulfilling his passion for transforming ideas into finished products.

"From the very beginning, Leimec gave me the opportunity to prove my skills. Before, the company did not have in-house engineering resources, but as the number of products I designed grew, the need for in-house engineering became evident. It turned out to be the right decision. Now, I am living my dream job at Leimec," Dirbaz says.

Ideas Carefully Evaluated, Even Within Challenging Timelines

Dirbaz initially studied information technology, earning a vocational qualification degree and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in ICT. His interest in mechanical engineering sparked while working in production roles, during which he ultimately completed a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering. At Leimec, Dirbaz's responsibilities include product design and development.

"Design work always starts with the customer's needs. In the process, we consider factors like cost-effective manufacturing methods and aim to leverage existing solutions where possible. Some level of customization is typically required. The highlights of my work are logical problem-solving and evaluating ideas from every perspective. Each power plant is unique, which means that every workday is also unique."

Dirbaz's strength as an engineer lies in his ability to quickly turn an idea into a concept that can be presented to the customer. One of his most memorable projects was designing and drafting the ventilation system for a power plant in Dublin in just one month. Custom solutions and speed are key competitive advantages for Leimec and provide engaging challenges for an engineer. The company also focuses on ensuring the commissioning of its products is as effortless as possible.

"In design, you must take the time to evaluate your approach from every perspective. Sometimes, the first idea isn't the best solution. When we consider the big picture from all angles in open dialogue with the customer, the result is genuinely the best possible solution – a product that truly serves its purpose."

A Warm Welcome at Leimec

According to Dirbaz, teamwork and communication at Leimec are seamless. Collaboration between production and management is effortless, and everyone has the opportunity to assume responsibility over their work. Dirbaz appreciates the trust placed in him, allowing him to manage his time and tasks independently.

"It's not always easy for someone with a foreign background to find work. I came to Finland at the age of 8 and have encountered prejudices, even in working life. At Leimec, I was welcomed with open arms, and my expertise has never been questioned. From the start, I was given the freedom and space to grow into the engineer I am today."
