Uwira and Kilkanen, both part of the Leinolat Group, have been in cooperation with Hitachi Energy for several years. Known for the manufacturing of demanding pipeline components, double-walled pipes and pressure vessels, Uwira has mainly supplied Hitachi Energy with various types of stainless steel pipes, manufactured with the required equipment and expertise. Specialized in the machining of demanding components, Kilkanen's cooperation with Hitachi Energy entails various challenging machined components, manufactured using the latest technology and expertise.

"We have extremely strict requirements for the products that Uwira and Kilkanen deliver components for. From our suppliers, we require certain qualifications and, to mention a few, quality and environmental certificates. Another important criterion is the supplier's operational activity, such as proven quality, delivery reliability and expertise. The experience we have from working with Uwira and Kilkanen over the years has shown that the companies are able to meet these requirements", says Jarmo Rintala, Planning and Fulfillment Manager for the transformer business sector at Hitachi Energy.

Uwira and Kilkanen's product development proposals to advance the end product's quality

During the years of efficient cooperation, Rintala has been particularly satisfied with both Uwira and Kilkanen's operations and quality, and also with their active involvement in supporting Hitachi Energy's product development. Whenever Uwira and Kilkanen identify development opportunities during the design process, they propose the improvements to the customer. This can in many cases improve the quality and extend the lifecycle of the end product.

"We of course have specifications for our products, but Uwira and Kilkanen can provide valuable proposals for developing them further."

According to Rintala, the value of the cooperation with Uwira and Kilkanen is not only based on individual aspects, but on the performance of the entire partnership as a whole.

"We sometimes encounter challenging situations during projects. Together with Uwira and Kilkanen, we have been able to find solutions that respond to the needs of our customers. We are satisfied with our solid cooperation."
